Dr. Josh Walawender, a support astronomer at the W.M. Keck Observatory on Mauna Kea, will present a program on how young stars form. He will discuss protostellar outflows – the phenomenon where young stars launch high speed jets of material out of their poles as they accumulate materials. Dr. Walawender received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2006. He has worked on infrared instrumentation, astronomical data reduction pipelines, and robotic telescopes. This program is made available through a generous grant from the Friends of the Libraries, Kona.
All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
