Join us as we create our own parol, pɑːˈroʊl, an icon of Filipino Christmas time. Parol which translates to lantern, is usually made in the shape of a star, remains an iconic Filipino symbol and has become just as important in the Philippines as the Christmas tree is to Western Cultures. Did you know that the parol symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, joy, and hope. A reminder of family and home, especially for those away from home.
All supplies will be provided free of charge. Due to the limited supplies though, we are restricting the amount of attendees for this program to 15 people. Registration is required and will be based on a first come-first served basis. To register, please stop by the reference desk, or call the library at: (808)733-8422. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Mahalo nui to our Friends of Kaimukī Public library for funding this program!
