The Five Pillars of Brain Health: a Free AARP Workshop

Join AARP Hawai‘i for an informative discussion about brain health, healthy aging, and reducing your risk of cognitive impairment.

AGENDA

1:00 pm 5 Pillars of Brain Health
  It’s never too late to take charge of your brain health! In this interactive session, you will learn about the five pillars of a brain-healthy lifestyle, share your brain-boosting activities and be inspired by others. Speaker: Jicky Ferrer, AARP Volunteer Speaker
2:00 pm Tai Chi for Health Demonstration
  Tai Chi is an art that embraces the mind, body & spirit and has been proven to prevent falls. Some movements may also be done from a chair. Speaker: Glenn Sakai, Tai Chi for Health instructor
2:45 pm The Mediterranean Diet
  This diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, olive oil, legumes, whole grains and fish – offeres many heart-healthy benefits and may also benefit your brain. Studies show people who closely follow a Mediterranean diet are less likely to have Alzheimer’s disease than people who don’t follow the diet. Speaker: Vicky Chaffin, Registered Dietitian
