The Life & Legacy of Prince Kuhio

March 28, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Three black and white images of Prince Kuhio at various ages

PROGRAM RESCHEDULED FROM ORIGINAL DATE (3/14) DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. MAHALO FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!

The oldest Hawaiian community-based grassroots organization was founded in 1918 by Prince Jonah Kūhiō. There are 58 Hawaiian Civic Clubs located throughout Hawai‘i and on the mainland. These clubs advocate for the culture, health, economic development, social welfare and nationhood of Native Hawaiians.

One goal of the Hawaiian Civic Club, ‘Ahahui Kīwila Hawai‘i O Mo‘ikeha, is to educate the public about Prince Kūhiō’s life and legacy, that of being a voice for his people.

Please join us as the Hawaiian Civic Club, through narrative, music and pictures, presents the story of Kaua‘i’s beloved Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana‘ole.

This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville as part of the Dotty Nakea Memorial Speaker Program and by the Princeville Public Library. The views expressed in this presentation are those of the speaker and do not constitute an endorsement by the Hawaii State Public Library, the Princeville Public Library, or the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville.

All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
