Did you know the US armed forces and the Department of Defense work together to look for Missing in Action/Killed in Action servicemembers from past conflicts?
What are some of the steps needed to make an identification of a missing servicemember and then bring closure to family members of those Killed in Action?
Dr. Ben DuMontier, a resident of Hawai’i works as a contractor supporting the mission of the US to “find, recover, identify and repatriate” remains of those who are unaccounted for from the Vietnam War. Join Dr. DuMontier’s morning session for a brief presentation on how he learned about this work, his experience in the Pacific prior to taking this job, and a brief summary of how the government works in Hawai’i to research and tirelessly look for remains across the Pacific. Q&A to follow.
*Dr. DuMontier is only talking about his experience and does not speak for any federal agency
