Learn about anchialine pools with Dena Sedar, the Interpretive Specialist for Hawai’i State Parks. Anchialine pools are an incredible natural resource, and Hawai’i Island has the highest concentration of them in the world! They are home to ‘opae ‘ula (red shrimp), a tiny species of shrimp that are found only in the Hawaiian Islands.

Program participants will have the opportunity to see live ‘opae ‘ula up close, and will create a paper puppet replica to take home. Program is suitable for children in grades K-5, and is limited to the first 20 patrons. Children must be accompanied by a parent or an adult caregiver.
