Every Thursday in June at 10am, we will hold a space related craft and a chance to explore our Kahuku Cool Lab equipment.

JUNE 6th – Galaxy Circuits: Create conductive dough and use it to power a small LED with battery operated electrical currents

SNAP Circuits kits will be available for further experimentation and learning.

JUNE 13th – Spinning Spaceships: Using recycled CDs, bottle caps, and a variety of small balls, participants can customize their own spinning space ship to take home.

Magnet Play and K’Nex kits will be available to create things with, too. We have Magformers and Tegu Wooden Blocks to accommodate a wide range of youth.

JUNE 20th – Rockets: Create a rocket from old cups, toilet paper rolls, and other recycled supplies. Then watch it “lift off” when you generate kinetic energy with a toilet paper roller.

– Galaxy Slime supplies will be available, too.

JUNE 27th – Paint a planet with Epsom salt water colors. The salt changes the colors and add texture. Experiment with these materials to get as close as possible to what our Solar System’s planets actually look like.

– MAKEY MAKEY will also be available to play with and see if we can get Epsom salt to convert into our keyboard.

These programs will combine hands-on learning with make and take crafting.

All supplies are generously supplied by the Friends of the Library Kahuku.
