Join Samantha Sun, Culture & Arts Specialist at the City & County of Honolulu Parks & Recreation Department, in this ti-leaf lei making workshop in preparation for Memorial Day. Participants will learn the hili method of lei making which is braiding or weaving prepared ti leaf. They will learn how weave their lei, including the essential skill of tying it off. Participants may also choose to bring their own flowers and Samantha can teach kui or sewn style of lei. Lei will be collected for use on Memorial Day. Prepared ti leaf and lei making supplies (scissors, thread, needles) will be provided. Recommended for ages 11 & up.
