A Tribute to Slack Key

Celebrate the Summer Reading Program!

 John Keawe is a songwriter, slack key guitarist, and a multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award recipient. Mr. Keawe will share the history of slack key and perform some of his many compositions both instrumentally and vocally.

This 45-minute program is suitable for ages 5 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i and the 2018 Summer Reading sponsors. This is a production of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program with additional funding and support provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and the University of Hawaii.
