Celebrate the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge!
2025 has been proclaimed the Year of Our Community Forests in Hawai‘i! To celebrate, public libraries are partnering with the State Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry & Wildlife (DLNR-DOFAW) and other environmental organizations to offer a free educational and interactive program for all ages.
This one-hour event begins with a tree mele or ‘oli, includes a brief presentation on community forests, and will end with an engaging activity that highlights the importance of forest stewardship across our islands. Event will be held in the First Floor Reading Room.
For more information, call the Hawai‘i & Pacific Section at (808) 586-3535.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. Program schedule is subject to change.
