Scar\, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal\, tragedy and drama\, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends\, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. \nThis live action movie is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) for sequences of violence and peril\, and some thematic elements. SUMMARY:Read to a Therapy Dog!
DESCRIPTION:Want to get better at reading?  Are you an animal lover?  Why not practice your reading skills by reading aloud to Nugget\, a therapy dog from Pet Partners\, a national organization that has helped to evaluate and support therapy animal teams since 1977.  This is a great opportunity for beginning readers to practice their reading skills with a totally non-judgmental listener. \nDid you know reading to dogs can boost your reading skills in children as well as help with emotional and social skills!? \nThis program is open to people of all ages.  Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult or caregiver.  As spaces are limited\, registration is required as it will be based on a first come first served basis on the day of the program. SUMMARY:Hawaiian Language 102 at the Library
DESCRIPTION:Aloha pumehana kākou!  We are continuing the  Basic Hawaiian Language class for those interested in learning ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi in a fun and engaging way.  This class taught by Librarian Moki Renti Cruz will incorporate Hawaiian songs as a tool to help build vocabulary and understand sentence structure.  No prior music experience needed\, although for this program as it is a continuation of the previous Hawaiian language class\, and therefore may be more difficult for those without prior Hawaiian language experience. \nDid you know that before the Hawaiian language was first printed in the 1820s\, it was passed down orally for generations? It’s a rich and beautiful tradition we are excited to share with you! \nThis class is recommended for youth ages 13 and up.  Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nTo register for this program please sign up at the Adult Reference Desk or give us a call at: (808)733-8422.
