SUMMARY:Talk Story: Sharing Gems about Kaimukī's Past!
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to share memories of growing up in historic Kaimukī town and be able to pass on that knowledge of history to others in the community?  Well look no further\, the staff at Kaimukī Public Library will be conducting interviews with community members to create an oral history of the Kaimukī area. \nI ka ʻōlelo nō ke ola\, i ka ʻōlelo nō ka make.  Our words are powerful\, what we do with it can cause life or the opposite.  Therefore\, by sharing your ʻike or knowledge\, you will be providing insight into the past and how life in Kaimukī was for the benefit of future generations. \nDue to time constraints\, we will need to restrict the responses to 5-10 minutes per person.   Please keep in mind that interviews will be conducted during our library hours.  The culmination of the oral history interviews will become a primary resource held at the library and will be shown during Kaimukī Public Library’s Anniversary Celebration in June.  Cut off date for this program will be the ending of May.   \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please visit or call the reference desk at (808) 733-8422.  \nAnyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication\, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program\, service\, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged\, but not required.  All programs are subject to change.  See a schedule of upcoming events on the HSPLS Events Calendar.
