SUMMARY:Welcome Back\, Kōlea!: Hawaiʻi Audubon Society
DESCRIPTION:Only in Hawaiʻi do kōlea\, or the Pacific Golden-Plover\, live in harmony with people in our backyards\, city parks\, and urban spaces. Every April these long-lived migratory shorebirds fly to Alaska to breed\, returning in late summer to the same spot\, where they capture the hearts of residents and visitors alike. \nJoin us at Kaimukī Public Library on Tuesday\, October 6 at 11 am for a special program with the Hawaiʻi Audubon Society where we will celebrate the return of the kōlea to the islands! We will learn about these endearing native birds\, have a kōlea drawing activity and participate in a mini-bird count around the library. \nThis program is best for ages 6+\, but all our welcome to participate! Young children should be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. For more info\, feel free to contact us at (808) 733-8422 or ask at the Kaimukī Public Library Adult Reference Desk. We look forward to seeing you there! \nMahalo nui to the Hawaiʻi Audubon Society for partnering with us for this program! \n\nAnyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication\, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program\, service\, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged\, but not required. All programs are subject to change. See a schedule of upcoming events on the HSPLS Events Calendar.
