Have you always wanted to learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons but didn’t know where or how to start? Aloha Adventurer’s Guild is here to help you embark on an epic quest! With their help\, you will: \n\nLearn how to play Dungeons & Dragons 5th Ed from the ground up. No experience? No problem! Aloha Adventurer’s Guild has all the tools you need.\nReceive pre-generated character sheets and begin playing and learning almost immediately! If you’ve already made a character before\, bring your character sheets! (Levels 1-3 preferred)\nDevelop communication\, teamwork\, and creative skills with minimal stress in a judgement free zone! We’ll show you what to do to get the most out of your gameplay.\nMeet new friends and find people to play with that are as interested in the game as you are!\nCheck out Hawaii State Library’s Dungeons & Dragons collection of books and materials to help you master the game! We have extra character sheets and handouts to help you learn!\n\nPARTICIPANTS & INTERESTED PLAYERS \nSince this is an event geared toward teens\, ages 10 through 18 will receive priority for registration\, but adults are encouraged to sign up for the waitlist. This event is not recommended for children under 10 years old. *Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Parents or guardians of children between 10 to 12 will not have to join the waitlist to participate. \nREGISTRATION & SIGN-UPS \nStop by the Young Adult reference desk at Hawaii State Library or call us at 808-586-3490 if you are interested in signing up or learning more! \nLOCATION OF TABLES & WHEN TO ARRIVE \nSessions will be held on the second floor balcony near the Arts\, Music\, and Recreation section with overflow in the Young Adult room. Please arrive at 12:30pm to get the best experience from this program. The program will close to late participants at 1:00pm. \nWHAT TO BRING & WHAT NOT TO BRING \nAll necessary gaming materials–including pre-made characters–will be provided to participants; however\, participants may bring their own character sheets\, minifigs\, dice\, and books if they would like. Other supplies like pencils and scratch paper will be available. Unfortunately\, food and drink are also not permitted at this event due to its location inside the library. \nAloha Adventurer’s Guild will host this event at Hawaii State Library periodically throughout the year\, depending on the time and availability of volunteers. This event is generously funded by the Friends of the Hawaii Library and is made possible through volunteers of the Aloha Adventurer’s Guild. \nIf you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability\, please contact the library at least 48 hours prior to the program date. DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. WALK-INS WILL BE ACCEPTED. \n\nCalling all teens in Grades 7 and Up!!! Join us for a silent disco at the downtown Hawaiʻi State Library. Put on headphones\, tune in to music by your favorite Honmoon defenders\, and groove to the beats in the stacks! Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  \nTo participate you will need to provide an ID that we will hold in exchange for your headset rental. Your ID will be returned once you return the headset. There is no time commitment\, join us and dance for 15 minutes or the full 2 hours. Once a headset is turned in\, another patron will be able to borrow it.
