DESCRIPTION:A weekly program for teens to learn things we weren’t taught in school\, the kinds of things we wish we knew without having to ask. A brief overview of topics covered: \nApril 26 know the answer without asking your adult \n\nWhat’s my blood type? Who is my doctor? Do I have any allergies? Am I on any medications? What’s my social security number? Who are my emergency contacts? And what is their information? How long do I need to keep…?\n\nMay 3 really basic budgeting \n\nIf I make $x and my needs cost $y…; Taxes; Writing a check and balancing a check book (including signing your name!)\n\nMay 10 how to get a job (or your dream college) \n\nWriting a CV; Presenting yourself; Mock interview; Which college is right? College essay tips\n\nMay 17 can I fix that by myself? \n\nLaundry symbols; Basic electronics\, plumbing\, and car tips; Basic clothing fixes (you can sew a button!); Simple first aid\n\nMay 24 self-care and community care \n\nSelf-advocacy (especially medical\, but also socially)\n\nAnyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication\, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program\, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged\, but not required. Program schedule is subject to change.
