SUMMARY:Learn How to Respond to Hawaiian Monk Seals
DESCRIPTION:Curious about helping protect Hawai‘i’s marine life? The Marine Mammal Center is coming to the Laupāhoehoe Library to offer training for anyone interested in being part of the local marine mammal response team at Laupāhoehoe Point Park. \nMonk seals and other marine mammals occasionally rest on our shores\, and trained volunteers play an important role in keeping them safe. Volunteers help set up protective boundaries and guide beachgoers to maintain a respectful distance—simple actions that make a big difference. \nIf you’d like to learn how to help\, join us on Monday\, March 9 at 1:30 PM in the meeting room. \n\nAnyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program\, service\, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged\, but not required. All programs are subject to change.
