SUMMARY:MAC Talk with Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Meet the Molokai Arts Center’s Artist in Residence\, Duncan Berry\, who will share his Molokai journey in art. \nDuncan has been an active artist & designer for 45 years. He has been trained by masters in the 150-year-old Japanese Folk Art of Gyotaku as well as the 1200-year-old botanical print tradition of Europe. Over the past 7 years he has taken this combination of art traditions and pioneered large scale\, innovative work that has stretched their previous known boundaries\, using them to create a deeper relationship with the living planet for the viewer of his work. This includes a glimpse into the inner workings of natural systems as well as the deep impacts of climate change on the oceans and islands. By Land By Sea By Air website \nDuncan has been creating and teaching in the Molokai community and in school-based workshops. He uses “art to illuminate science” during hands on gyotaku and nature\nprinting workshops. He will unveil a mural of pieces created by Molokai keiki at MAC Talk. \nBrought to Molokai in collaboration with Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. \nAnyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication\, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program\, service\, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged\, but not required. All programs are subject to change. See a schedule of upcoming events on the HSPLS Events Calendar.
