A bunch of children's books

Picture books bring a child's world alive through pictures with wonderful illustrations and story lines. Throughout November, we celebrate picture books with a special find the author game. Children can read picture books of their choice by 18 talented writers and log them on a book log. After finding and reading the books, participants turn the logs in for special prizes. Holiday Ornament Contest for Children

Keiki grade 6 and younger are invited to enter the Aiea Public Library's ornament contest using creativity to decorate a paper ornament. Sign-up and receive an ornament beginning November 18, the last day to enter the contest is December 16.  Winners will receive prizes and all entries will be displayed in the Library. See the winning ornaments at the Library on December 18. See the Information Desk to participate. No purchase or consideration necessary. Please no perishables items on the ornaments.

Submit a Christmas tree ornament to the Ewa Beach Public & School Library, and win a prize! Ornaments may not be larger than 4 by 4 by 4 inches, and they may not be made from breakable materials such as glass and should not contain any perishable items (i.e., food, candy, etc.). Hanaire made by Shofu Kai ceramists of the Hawaii Potters' Guild

This exhibit of traditional hanaire is presented by Shofu Kai, a group of ceramists at the Hawaiʻi Potters’ Guild who have been studying together to learn about the artistry of utensils used in the Japanese tea ceremony, a cornerstone of Japanese culture. The hanaire (flower vase) with chabana (flowers) and ojiku (scroll) are prominently displayed in the alcove of a tea room.  Each guest in a tea ceremony visits the alcove and respectfully views these tea utensils prior to the…
