LibrariesHI app on mobile phoneState Vendor/Third-Party Dispute Shuts Down Hawaii Public Libraries’ Mobile Application

As of Nov. 26, most features of the Hawaii State Public Library System’s (HSPLS) mobile application are no longer working following a legal dispute between the State’s vendor SirsiDynix and that company’s third-party vendor, Solus. The shutdown, which occurred without prior notification, has caused service disruptions to libraries and readers around the country.

At this point, Hawaii public library patrons may still use the barcode feature on the HSPLS mobile app to check out materials. Looking up books and other materials, placing holds, checking account information and all other features are not working at this time.

“Many of our patrons depend on the library’s mobile app, and we apologize for the confusion and frustration this has caused,” said Stacey A. Aldrich, State Librarian. “We are actively exploring options for restoring a mobile app solution and appreciate the patience of our patrons. In the meantime, patrons can access all their account information via My Account on the HSPLS website (librarieshawaii.org),” Aldrich added.

In addition to in-person services, the HSPLS digital doors are always open on our website. With just a library card, you can download ebooks, stream movies, learn a language, read The New York Times and more.
