The Hawaii State Public Library System provides Bookmobiles to ensure that residents of Hawaii have access to public library materials and services. HSPLS operates two bookmobiles. It’s a fun and effective way to reach those who cannot travel to their public library.

Did you know the Maui Holoholo Bookmobile’s Spring & Summer 2019 Route Schedule includes stops at Community Centers in Haʻikū and Pukalani. The schedule also includes public stops in Kīhei.

The Bookmobile offers books for all ages, DVDs, audiobooks, storytimes, free Wi-Fi, and assistance with finding information and navigating eResources.  Items borrowed on the Bookmobile may be returned to any public library within the Hawaii State Public Library System.

Maui’s Holoholo Bookmobile and UH Institute for Astronomy Present a Star Party

Friday, July 12, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m.

In celebration of the 2019 Summer Reading Program, Maui’s Holoholo Bookmobile and the University of Hawaii’s Institute for Astronomy will be hosting this special event.

The Haleakalā Amateur Astronomers will set up telescopes to view the night sky and the Holoholo Bookmobile will be open for tours, giving out Summer Reading incentives, making library cards, checking out library materials, and offering a free craft.  A telescope, funded by the Maui Friends of the Library, will be given away at the event. The Institute for Astronomy will also present a talk about the universe and the National Solar Observatory will have scientific demonstrations. The event is free and open to the public.
