August 18, 2026 – McCully-Mōʻiliʻili Public Library’s elevator is out of service.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Access to the Library for the Blind and Print Disabled is available only to individuals registered with the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled. LBPD was established as a network library for the National Library Service in 1931, and continues in its core mission to provide library services and materials to those who are blind, visually impaired or print disabled for the people of Hawai‘i.

This change is necessary for the limited LBPD staff to focus on supporting their primary patrons and ensuring that they have access to reading materials and resources that support their needs.

All Hawai‘i State Public Library System (HSPLS) libraries offer free public library services (such as free wifi and public computers), as well as access to large type materials. The collection of large type materials at the Waikīkī-Kapahulu Public Library has been increased. Additionally, large type materials may be requested for transfer to your nearest public library for your convenience.

The meeting room is temporarily closed for public use as we work on a heat mitigation solution. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Mahalo!

The loss of family, friends, homes, businesses and cultural heritage during the August fires is devastating, and we are all heart broken. Our aloha and prayers are with our Lāhainā community.

While only the walls of our library are left, our staff are unharmed and standing strong. The staff of the statewide system will be here to support you in the coming weeks, months and years.

Please visit our other Maui libraries or the Maui Bookmobile which provides services to West Maui.
