About

Welcome to the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library! Designed by Team Pacific, Inc., our library opened in October 1978.  We are located on the campus of Waimea Elementary and Intermediate School. Our library was named after Thelma Parker, who inherited the Parker Ranch, the largest ranch on the Island of Hawaii.

Upcoming Events

Origami crane folding

Bonnie of EPIC Origami will be at the library to share her skill in Origami to any Adult patron wanting to learn.  This class is open to all beginners and who would like to learn about this ancient art of folding paper.  Please join us at the library for this free class.  All papers and books will be provided.

Program schedule is subject to change.  Contact the library 15 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.

Stories for Preschoolers

The Library hosts story time every Thursday for keikis, 2-5 and their families.  The program includes stories and songs with a simple craft activity to follow.  This enjoyable and bonding experience can provide opportunities for brain development and the building of friendships.  All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.  Special Events may be held in lieu of regularly scheduled programs.

Contact the library 15 days in advance to request a  sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.

Preschoolers will explore shadows and learn how an object’s shadow changes size and shape as it is moved closer to, and farther from, a light source; how objects outside have shadows that change in direction, size and shape over time; and how the sun changes position in the sky over time.

Join us in  learning as a part of NASA @ MY LIBRARY INITIATIVE and have fun in the process.
