Popular Myths About the Attack on Pearl Harbor

December 1, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Burl Burlingame in front of a helicopter

The Imperial Navy’s surprise assault at Pearl Harbor is the second-most written-about subject in American history and has entered popular mythology as well. Over the years, a number of errors and myths have persisted about the attack. Which myths just won’t go away? Which ones are tall tales, and which are sort-of true?…And what is the most popular American history subject? You’ll have to attend the talk to find out!

Burl Burlingame is an award-winning historian, writer, and journalist. His work — specializing in history, culture, social context, technology, and the arts — has appeared in daily and national publications for more than three decades. His expertise in historical interpretation led to board seats on the Bishop Museum Association Council and the Pacific War Memorial Association, and to his current position as Historian for Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor.
