Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea (Sovereignty Restoration Day) honors the historic moment on July 31, 1843, when King Kamehameha III declared “Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono” after British forces returned sovereignty to the Hawaiian Kingdom. Today, Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea is a vibrant celebration of Hawaiian identity, self-determination, and community resilience, marked by cultural events, educational forums, and mele across the islands.

To learn more and join the July 2025 events, visit the Lā Ho‘ihoʻi Ea website, and explore community stories and resources through Kamehameha Schools’ Kaiāulu website.
