Princeville Public Library

Princeville Pop-Up Library to Close on April 12, 2025; Newly-renovated Library to begin door service on May 1

In preparation for reopening the Princeville Public Library in May, the temporary Pop-Up location will close at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The last day to pick up holds/reserves is April 12, and books may be returned through the library building’s book drop or to any other public library.

Beginning on May 1, 2025, the Princeville Public Library will offer limited door service while staff continue transitioning to full services. Updates will be posted when they become available.

The Hawai‘i State Public Library System (HSPLS) appreciates the public’s patience and support over the past year’s lengthy renovation period. The staff is excited to reopen the library doors and offer full services later in June.

Princeville Public Library

About

Welcome to the Princeville Public Library! Designed by Kauai-born architect Maurice Yamasato of Yamasato, Fujiwara, Aoki & Associates, our library opened on Apr. 14, 1999. Princeville Corp., in partnership with the State and County, provided land to build the library. We are the 6th public library to open on the Garden Island.

Ohana Readers and Imagination Library logosThe Princeville Public Library participates in ʻOhana Readers, a literacy program that focuses on reading with family as an affiliate program of Dolly Partonʻs Imagination Library. The program offers high-quality, age-appropriate Imagination Library books each month to children who are under the age of five.

Dolly Partonʻs Imagination Library program is a zip code based mailing program. Families must live in these specific Kauai zip codes to participate.

To register, click your ZIP code to download the registration form or visit the branch. You may return the form by mail or drop it off at the branch. The participating library will also offer programs that complement the books the children receive, and will provide other activities to promote literacy and reading.

For more information, visit the ‘Ohana Readers website.
