Emergency Preparedness Resources for Hawaiʻi Residents

Handbook for Emergency Preparedness by HECO coverThe Hawaiʻi State Public Library System provides emergency preparedness resources developed by Hawaiian Electric in partnership with the Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency and county emergency management agencies. These resources are designed to help Hawaiʻi residents plan ahead, stay informed, and be better prepared for emergencies.

The printed handbook includes updated information on wildfire safety and prevention and is intended to be used both as an everyday planning tool and during emergency situations. Topics include planning and preparation, emergency response, electrical safety, food and water safety, wildfire safety strategies, and important emergency phone numbers.

Copies of the handbook are available at your local library. Online versions are also offered in multiple languages, including Vietnamese, Cantonese, Ilocano, and Korean, as well as a Keiki (children’s) edition. Visit the Hawaiian Electric website to download a copy.
