Welcome to the Waimānalo Public and School Library! Designed by Ernest H. Hara and Associates, our library opened on Feb. 25, 1978. We are located on the campus of Waimānalo Elementary and Intermediate School. More than half of Waimānalo ‘s current residents and library patrons are of Hawaiian or part-Hawaiian descent.
For those 3 years of age and older. We will move, sing, stretch, breathe and read. Join Aunty Taryn as she leads the group in songs filled with yoga poses as well as breathing exercises. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring a towel or yoga mat for anyone participating.

Join Maka’ala for a reading and talkstory about his book Nā Wahine Kahuna ‘Ekolu: Three Women Masters of Old Hawai’i in which he shares how his three kumu (Aunty Margaret Machado, ‘Iolani Luahine, and Morrnah Simeona) profoundly shaped him as a member of the first Hōkūleʻa crew in 1976 and throughout his decades of practice as a Native Hawaiian healer and teacher.

Make your own Lauhala Ornament as part of a FREE parent and keiki bookmaking experience. Parents will learn to spark positive engagement with their keiki while making a Lauhala Ornament and taking photos of the activity. Parents will learn to engage in meaningful “talk story” with their keiki about the experience and create a special book about the experience. Recommended for parents and keiki ages 3 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Please arrive at 5:00 pm to register your ‘ohana.
