National Library Week | April 3-9

This week is National Library Week! It was first sponsored in 1958 by the American Library Association to celebrate our nation’s libraries and the work they do to support our communities.

Your Hawaii Public Library System is dedicated to ensuring that you have opportunities to find and connect to books, information, ideas, learning and technology. We hope that during this week you will visit us in person or online to connect!

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of General Election Day, all public libraries will be closed on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of Veterans Day, all public libraries will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of Thanksgiving Day, all public libraries will be closed on Thursday, November 26, 2026.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE | In observance of Christmas Day, all public libraries will be closed on Friday, December 25, 2026.

ALERT #1 | All Kaua‘i libraries will remain closed through Friday, September 11, 2026, as the island continues to recover from the impacts of Hurricane Lowell. The closure is in accordance with Governor Josh Green’s directive. Please check our website for the latest information on library reopenings and service updates.
