It’s time to crown Hawaiʻi’s favorite children’s books! Voting is now open for the Nēnē Award!

Every spring, fourth through sixth graders across the state get to choose the best chapter book and graphic novel from a list of 30 amazing nominees.

How it works:

  • Read: Check out the list of 30 amazing chapter books and graphic novels nominated by the Nēnē Committee.
  • Vote: Cast your vote online or at your local library.
  • Win: Your favorite books could be crowned the best of the best!

What makes a great book? As you read, consider these factors:

  • Appeal: Is it fun and exciting?
  • Plot: Does the story keep you hooked?
  • Characters: Are they memorable and relatable?
  • Style: Does the writing flow smoothly and capture your imagination?
  • Theme: Does it have a powerful message?

The winning books will be announced on the Nēnē Award website this spring.
