Author Talk: The Splintered Paddle by Bill Fernandez

November 6, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Author Bill Fernandez

Join us for an author talk with Bill Fernandez.

The Splintered Paddle is “a historical novel set during the period of Kamehameha the Great’s battles to consolidate the Hawaiian Islands” and “stars a fierce yet tenderhearted young warrior determined to bring security to his family.”

Kirkus Reviews calls the novel “an action-packed adventure” with “a wealth of historical and cultural minutiae, and an engaging protagonist.”

The talk will be followed by a Q & A session.

Half-native Hawaiian, Bill Fernandez graduated from Kamehameha Schools and Stanford University and Law School. Kauaʻi born and raised, he writes memoirs and novels set in the islands and featuring native Hawaiian heroes while sitting in the house his mother bought with her pineapple cannery earnings in the 1920s. Bill serves on a social service agency board, Hale ʻŌpio, was appointed by the governor to the Juvenile Justice State Advisory Commission and served as president of the Kauaʻi Historical Society.

The author’s books will be on sale following the program. Cash, check or credit accepted. 10% of the proceeds go to The Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville to support future library programming.

This program was made possible by the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville.
