Please join our book club for a discussion of Kate Beaton’s graphic-format memoir, Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands. Before becoming a best-selling cartoonist, Beaton was a young graduate looking for lucrative work to pay off her student loans. While she found it in the oil fields of Alberta, she also found a harsh reality, including everyday trauma and rampant sexism in a remote environment.
Copies of the book are available at Honokaa Library’s circulation desk. All books we read are chosen by members of the group.
