North Kohala Public Library presents a Hana Hou! “talk story” session on The Life and Death of Captain James Cook, with local storyteller and historian Boyd Bond.  On Monday, February 10th at 6:30 p.m., Bond will discuss how Captain Cook began his third voyage into the Pacific Ocean in 1777 and landed in Kealakekua in December of 1778 and was later killed there when he returned in February of 1779.

Was Cook the God Lono, who promised to return on a floating island? If they thought Cook was a God, why did they kill him? And what is the legacy of the famous explorer in the Pacific Islands he first place on European maps?
