Introduction to a Langstroth Hive for Beginner Beekeepers

Join us for a short talk with Susan Collins on the basics of the Langstroth Hive.
Susan will present a short history of honeybees in Hawaii and the importance of honey bees in society .
Learn about how the frames, bottom board, and lid work together to support a healthy bee colony.
We will also review the basic tools of beekeeping and how they are used to keep honey bees and extract resources.

Participants will be able to try on a bee suit and handle equipment used to keep bees.
