December 6, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Photo of Kailua-Kona Public Library

Debra Dolsberry, a local silk artist and teacher, will give a brief history of silk, a commentary on the different types of silk and silk care, an explanation with demonstration of the silk painting process and a short introduction to sewing on silk.  Among the techniques, Debra shows color blending, making textures with salt and alcohol, and creating designs with resist, water, shaving foam, and starch.
