The Wahiawā Public Library’s last day of service in its current facility will be Saturday, May 3, 2025. The 60-year-old branch will be replaced by a new library as part of the civic center development. Construction is expected to begin in June.
On May 3 from 9 a.m. to noon, Wahiawā residents are invited to visit and say Aloha to the existing library building:

Holds and reserves must be picked up at the branch by 4 p.m. on May 3. After the branch closes, patrons are asked to return borrowed materials to other public libraries until a temporary Wahiawā Public Library is opened in June 2025.
During the anticipated two-year construction period, the Hawai‘i State Public Library System plans to open a temporary library location in the Wahiawā Shopping Center (823 California Avenue). An announcement on the opening date of the temporary location will be made in the future.
Princeville Pop-Up Library to Close on April 12, 2025; Newly-renovated Library to begin door service on May 1
In preparation for reopening the Princeville Public Library in May, the temporary Pop-Up location will close at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The last day to pick up holds/reserves is April 12, and books may be returned through the library building’s book drop or to any other public library.
Beginning on May 1, 2025, the Princeville Public Library will offer limited door service while staff continue transitioning to full services. Updates will be posted when they become available.
The Hawai‘i State Public Library System (HSPLS) appreciates the public’s patience and support over the past year’s lengthy renovation period. The staff is excited to reopen the library doors and offer full services later in June.
The Lahaina Public Library is closed until further notice.
The Kaneohe Public Library temporarily closed on February 26, 2024 for a construction project.
A small pop-up location offering limited services is available inside the Windward Mall, near Ross Dress for Less, Fun Factory and Panda Express. Patrons will be able to borrow from a small collection of materials, pick-up holds, return borrowed items, use computers and wi-fi service. The pop-up location will maintain the same hours as the library.
At this time, the construction project is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2025.
The Kahului Public Library has temporarily closed on November 1, 2024, to complete extensive interior renovations. The last day for all library services at the Kahului branch was October 31.
The bookdrop will remain closed for the duration of the renovation project. Borrowed items may be returned to any other public library during the closure.
During the temporary closure, patrons are invited to visit any public library. The two closest libraries to Kahului are Wailuku Public Library or Kihei Public Library.
At this time, the renovation project is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2025.
