Kealakekua Public Library

About

Welcome to the Kealakekua Public Library! Designed by architect Howard Redfearn, our library opened on Oct. 14, 1950. The original portion of our library was built with native lava rock and ʻōhiʻa logs. Located in West Hawaii, our library serves residents from Keauhou-Kona to Ocean View in the Ka‘u District.

Valentine's Day Craft

Valentine’s Day is on the way. Let’s do something extra special this year. Create a card for one of the residents at Life Care Center of Kona. Create a unique one-of-a-kind card at one of our in-person programs. Can’t make it on one of the program days? We will have templates available at the library from January 15-February 13th for you to do in-house or pick up and return to the branch. All Valentine’s taken home must be completed and returned to the library by 4pm on Friday, February 13th so they may be delivered to the residents by Valentine’s Day.

All supplies are provided with funding from Friends of the Libraries, Kona (F.O.L.K.). No sign-up required. Ages 5+ welcome to create their own cards, or help from a grownup for those younger than 5 years old.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. Program schedule is subject to change.
