About

Welcome to the Kealakekua Public Library! Designed by architect Howard Redfearn, our library opened on Oct. 14, 1950. The original portion of our library was built with native lava rock and ohia logs. Located in West Hawaii, our library serves residents from Keauhou-Kona to Ocean View in the Ka`u District.

Scissors and thread

Want to learn how to sew using a machine? Have you sewn before but need a refresher? Join us for this six-part sewing series.

In this first course, you’ll learn to make a scrunchie. Material is provided for the scrunchie.

What you need to bring:

  • An idea for a project (to begin in the second class on March 20)
  • Interest in making something
  • Fabric scissors
