Welcome to the Kailua Public Library! Designed by the architectural firm of Lemmon, Freeth, Maines and Jones, our library opened on Dec. 28, 1960. Best known for our “Reading Tree” in the Children’s Room, it provides an aesthetically-pleasing backdrop for storytimes and special events. In back of our library is a beautiful courtyard with seating for patrons to read or chat with friends
Join the fun with stories, crafts, movement, and whatevahs! Keep keiki loving stories and stuffs! Meet Mr. Alligator. Find out what other programs we have for keiki. There’s lots to learn at Keiki Storytime.
Program is suitable for ages 5 and under. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.

The Hawaii Positive Engagement Project (HPEP) conducts a 2 day craft and engagement experience held on two Saturdays, the 6th and the 20th of September. Come on the 6th to register for the two sessons then have fun together!
Part 1: On Sept 6th parent and keiki will make a resin keychain and take photos of the experience.
Part 2: On the 20th parent and keiki will make a book then “talk story” with their keiki about the experience.
HPEP staff will help participants engage and connect to each other through a crafting activity using the SHELLS+ concept (SHELLS+ concept youtube video). It is asked that parents and keiki participate in both Saturdays to realize the full benefit of crafting and engagement.
Program is suitable for ages from 7 and older. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver; at least one adult per child participating.

Come talk story with the Hawai‘i Climate Commission and share your ideas, concerns, and vision for our islands. Your in-person feedback will help guide the development of the Climate Action Pathways (CAP), a plan to build more affordable, safe, and healthy communities for everyone in Hawai‘i.
This is your chance to make your voice heard and be part of the solution as we work together toward a climate-resilient future.
For more information, visit the Hawai‘i Climate Action Pathways website. Copies of the CAP and executive summary are available at your local library.
