2018 Kilauea Volcano Eruption, with Dr. Thomas Shea and Rebecca deGraffenried

Dr. Thomas Shea and Graduate student Rebecca deGraffenried of the University of Hawaii, Department of Earth Sciences, will provide a summary of the extraordinary events that unfolded on the Island of Hawaii between May and August of 2018. They will introduce Kilauea volcano and the eruption sequence using video and photographic material and bring lava samples that the audience can touch and ask questions about.

Dr. Shea originates from France, and received his PhD at UH Manoa in 2010, where he currently works as an Assistant Professor. He works largely on volcanoes around the world, with a current emphasis on the Kilauea Volcano.

This FREE event is recommended for ages 5 and up.
