September 10, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm

A woman wearing purple shirt meditates in front of a gold mandala and next to a lotus

This 45-minute class will teach adults and teens how to do formal sitting and walking meditation. Participants will learn to establish their own regular mindful meditation practice and to apply and integrate this practice into their daily lives and activities. During each session, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about meditation, discuss it, and to practice silent sitting/walking meditation exercises together.

Event will be held in library meeting room. Current limit of 12 participants. Please call the library at 808-622-6345 to register. Guests are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats; however, the library does have extras for guests who do not have them. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

About the Speaker: Dr. Patrick Jichaku is a faculty clinical psychologist at the UH-Manoa Counseling and Student Development Center. He has taught mindful awareness methods for UH undergraduate and graduate students (and a few professors) since 2009. Dr. Jichaku started his own daily meditation practice 47 years ago and was taught to meditate by several excellent and traditional Zen meditation teachers.
