POCHIBUKURO (“LITTLE BAG”) / OTOSHIDAMA

November 5, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Six small envelopes -Pochibukuro

Japanese children frequently receive monetary gifts in little envelopes called “pochibukuro.” The New Year’s pochibukuro is called “otoshidama.” This pragmatic practice has other applications, as well. Evelyn Nakamura will show how to create 3 different, simple pochibukuro from found materials, then size them up for other purposes. Examples of varied uses and adaptations for these envelopes will be shared.

Class size is limited to 15 participants (young adults or adults). RSVP required. Call 831-6831 to register.

Optional: Please bring your own small, sharp pointed, thin blade scissors.

All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
