Meet Author Juliet Kono – The Need to Work for Peace

November 5, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Author Juliet Kono

Juliet Kono, author of Anshu: Dark Sorrow, was born in Hilo and lives in Honolulu.  Her other works include the poetry collections Hilo Rains and Tsunami Years. She received the Hawaii Award for Literature in 2005.

Anshu was the book selection for Read for Peace in September.  Those of us who read and discussed this story of a young woman who is in Hiroshima at the time of the atomic bomb attack, were deeply moved by Juliet Kono’s depiction of the people and events of Japan in WWII.

Please come and meet the compassionate and talented writer of this novel that left its readers understanding more deeply the need to work for peace.
