Get a free Reading Tutor or volunteer as a Literacy Tutor

April 15, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Dog Reading

Join the Kona Literacy Center volunteers for a casual, informational talk at the library.  One in six adults in Hawaii has difficulty reading. Since 1971, the Kona Literacy Center has offered free one-to-one tutoring for English speaking adults by trained volunteer literacy tutors.  Their services are free and private. When an adult increases his or her reading skills, daily challenges like filling out job applications, reading to their children, or finding information become much easier.  It’s never too late for an adult to become a stronger reader.  When an adult improves his or her reading, they can earn more money, feel better about themselves, and even their children do better in school. The Kona Literacy Center helps hundreds of adults learn to improve their reading and writing skills too.  Find out about volunteer opportunities or how to get your own private tutor.

Program schedule is subject to change.  Contact the library 15 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
