Have you ever wanted to try your hands at origami? Here’s your chance! Join us for this 1-hour program and learn how to make one of the most basic origami, cranes. Origami cranes have become a symbol of peace because of a young girl named Sadako Sasaki, who was exposed to radiation poisoning from the bombing at Hiroshima as an infant. There is a legend in Japanese culture that says if one folds 1,000 cranes, their heart’s desire will come true. It is said that Sadako folded 644 cranes while in the hospital, dying of leukemia. When she died, her classmates continued folding cranes in honor of their friend. Sadako was buried with 1,000 cranes to honor her dream of ending suffering and achieving world peace.

This one-hour program is suitable for teens+ and is limited to the first 10 patrons. All materials will be provided.
