About

Welcome to the Waipahu Public Library! Library services in Waipahu began as early as 1952 with a library on Farrington Highway. Our current library opened at a new facility located next to the Waipahu Civic Center on Mar. 18, 1996. Designed by Mitsunaga and Associates, our library features Oahu’s only drive-thru window and exclusive reading room for teens.

The Library’s drive-thru window conveniently allows patrons to pick up holds and return books. The entrance to the drive-thru window is located on Mokuola Street.

There are 10 free parking spots in front of the library, which have meters. The non metered parking spots have a pay station in the Waipahu Civic Center. Parking is FREE on Saturdays.

Waipahu Library 30th Anniversary
Waipahu 30th Anniversary

Waipahu Library has re-scheduled our 30th Anniversary celebration to Saturday September 12, 2026.

Opening ceremonies from 10:00am-11:00 am will include speeches from government officials followed by a demonstration from Tobosa School of Kali Escrima Filipino Martial Arts.

Then from 11:30-1:30pm, we will have 4 (30 minute) sessions featuring Strolling Magic by Alan Arita, Balloon Twisting, Face Painting and crafts.
Session 1: 11:30am-12:00pm
Session 2: 12:00pm-12:30pm
Session 3: 12:30pm-1:00pm
Session 4: 1:00pm-1:30pm

Families may attend ONE (1) session during these time periods. Each FREE session includes the hilarious, interactive, and close up magic of Alan Arita, balloon twisting, face painting, crafts, games, and prize drawings!

Celebrate the spooky season by participating in:

*Our “Gourd-geous Pumpkin Paint Contest”(paint your favorite book character on a wooden pumpkin)

*Our “Boo-tiful Balloon twist station”(make your own ghost ballon)

*Our “Delightfully eerie treat station”(make your own Halloween treat)

 

At Noon, prizes will be awarded for best representation of a book character in the following categories:

-4-5 years old

-6-7 years old

– 8-9 years old

-10-11 years old

-12-14 years old
