How to Approach a Dog Safely – K9 TheraPets of Hawaii

July 1, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Therapy Dogs. K9 TheraPets

Would you know what to do if you saw a strange dog running loose in your neighborhood? What about if you’re walking in the park? Learn steps to keep you as safe as possible in situations like these and more.  Volunteers from K9 TheraPets of Hawaii will teach children (and their parents) what steps to take when greeting a dog.  Besides being incredibly adorable, all furry wet-nosed quadrupeds in this program are registered therapy dogs with the national Alliance of Therapy Dogs.  A meet and greet session will follow the presentation.

These volunteers visit hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, schools and facilities where interaction with their dogs provide a beneficial “therapeutic contact” for people.  Young children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change. For a list of upcoming library events, visit www.librarieshawaii.org/events
