Join acclaimed musician Jeff Peterson for an engaging program featuring slack key guitar music and stories that explore the history and evolution of this unique Hawaiian tradition from the 1830s to today. One of Hawaiʻi’s most versatile musicians, Peterson has performed as a solo artist and collaborated with acclaimed artists from Hawaiʻi and around the world. Suitable for all ages, this 45-minute event celebrates the rich heritage and enduring beauty of Hawaiian music.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i. This is a production of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program.

Join us for a fun, hands-on messy play session as we celebrate the conclusion of our Summer Reading Challenge, ʻUmeke Kāʻeo! This summer, we’ve been filling our calabashes with wisdom, stories, and discoveries. Now it’s time to celebrate all that learning with an afternoon of creativity, sensory exploration, and messy fun.

In addition to making slime, creating messy art, and exploring sensory play activities, we’re excited to welcome VJ Farm and Services and their petting zoo! Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and interact with guinea pigs, rabbits, a pot-bellied pig, and tortoises.

Come celebrate a summer filled with reading, learning, and imagination. Dress for a mess! We recommend wearing clothes that can get dirty.
