Maile Melrose is President of the Board of Directors of Friends of Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden, a Kona-based nonprofit organization. She recently announced the Friends’ purchase of the Garden from Bishop Museum on O’ahu. Maile will share with us the process that resulted in the purchase, and plans for the Garden’s future. She will describe ongoing volunteer efforts to improve and maintain the grounds, and imminent re-opening dates to the public, with a steadfast focus on re-establishing the Garden as a valuable and unique educational and cultural resource for the community and visitors to enjoy.

Maile Melrose is a recognized historian, researcher, author, speaker and noted living-history storyteller, with a background in Anthropology and Hawaiian Studies. She is a loyal Kona resident and cousin of Amy Greenwell.

The Community Seed Library is generously supported by the Friends of the Libraries, Kona (FOLK).

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change. For a list of upcoming library events, visit www.librarieshawaii.org/events.
