July 15, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Fred Korematsu Speaks Up book cover

Stan Yogi, co-author of the new children’s book Fred Korematsu Speaks Up, explains the connections he and his co-author have to the book and what led them to write it. He explains Fred Korematsu’s story, how Mr. Korematsu came to challenge Japanese American incarceration during World War II, and provides a broader historical context about the period. Mr. Yogi frames his presentation with ideas about speaking up and activism, and concludes with reflections on present day civil liberties issues.

Recommended for ages 8 and up. Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library at least 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
