BLACKS IN HAWAI’I: ANCESTORS, LEGACY, AND LIFE
Two outstanding “Historymakers” of Hawai’i—Dr. Kathryn Waddell Takara and Retired Judge Sandra A. Simms pay tribute to notable (S)Heroes Anthony Allen, Frank Marshall Davis, Helene Hale, Alice Ball and artist John Nichols and their roles within Black Hawai’i history.
The event will begin with a short clip from the 1991 Julie Dash film Daughters of Dust and it will end with The Ball Method, a short film made in 2020 by Dagmawi Abebe and Javier Carmona.
