Community Seed Library: Beneficial Insects and Soil Biology with Christine Young

September 7, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Christine Young is a botanist, soil scientist, permaculture designer. She will be comparing conventional management of soil fertility and pest control, and the advantages of transitioning toward a more natural plan. Learn how to adopt systems that use soil biology and beneficial insects to create healthy, pest-controlled, and safe environments for all. Christine will also present examples of case studies from Hawaiian landscapes and allow for “talk story” about individual challenges and experiences. As a lifelong lover of nature and its processes, Christine has enjoyed living in Hawai’i and studying Hawaiian ecology, culture, soils, entomology and plant life. The Community Seed Library is generously supported by the Friends of the Libraries, Kona (FOLK).

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change. For a list of upcoming library events, visit www. librarieshawaii.org/events.
