Nicola Yoon, the author the Young Adult book Everything, everything will be coming to the Hawaii State Library for a Meet/Greet/Question & Answer session. The movie adaptation of her book will be shown prior to her arrival in the First floor Reading Room.
The PG-13 movie tells the love story of Maddy, a smart, curious and imaginative eighteen-year-old who due to an illness cannot leave the protection of the hermetically sealed environment in her house, and Olly, the boy next door who won’t let that stop them. Maddy is desperate to experience the much more stimulating outside world, and the promise of her first romance.
Nicola Yoon’s 2015 novel, Everything, Everything, debuted at #1 on New York Times Best Seller list. She integrates the challenges that confront today’s youth without making social issues the focus of her stories. An advocate of diverse representation in literature, Yoon has an open, engaging online presence. In life and work, Nicola is a model of inclusivity. Her second novel, The Sun Is Also a Star (2016), is also a #1 New York Times bestseller.
